Long division 除法豎式

Column division這種說法也可以接受，但不如long division常用。

To do long division, lets start by drawing the long division symbol.

做除法豎式之前先畫好除法豎式符號。

We can do that by drawing a right parenthesis

咱們可以畫一個右半邊的括號，

and a line above it that sticks out to the right.

然后在它上面畫一條線向右延伸。

We stick the dividend inside the symbol,

咱們把被除數寫在符號里，

like a person in a house.

好像一個人在房子里。

The divisor goes to the left of the parenthesis,

除數在括號的左邊，

like hes knocking on the door.

好像他在敲門。

Lets do the math now.

現在咱們來做數學題。

First, well divide the first digit, 7, by 3.

首先，我們用3除第1位，7。

Its not perfectly divisible by 3,

它不能被3整除，

so we choose the closest number that is less than 7,

所以我們選擇最接近且比7小，

and is a multiple of 3,

而且是3的倍數的數，

which is 6.

是6。

So, we write a 6 under the 7.

所以，我們把6寫在7下面。

Multiply 3 by 2 to get 6,

so write a 2 above the 7.

Now, looking back at the 7 and 6,

we will subtract the 6 from the 7,

and write a 1 underneath a line.

Now, bring the 4 down beside the 1.

14 is also not perfectly divisible by 3,

so the next best thing is 12.

Write 12 under the 14

and write 4 above the 4

because 3 x 4 = 12.

Next, well subtract 12 from 14

然后，我們用12去減14，

and have a final remainder of 2.

得到最終的余數2。

The answer is a quotient of 24 and a remainder of 2.

答案是商24余2。
