Eating Mooncakes 吃月餅

Mom: Today is the Mid-Autumn Festival -

媽媽：今天是中秋節，

come eat mooncakes!

來吃月餅啦！

Child: Awesome, I love eating mooncakes!

寶寶：太棒了，我喜歡吃月餅！

Mom: Heres a box of mooncakes.

媽媽：這里有一盒月餅。

Everyone, come and grab a mooncake!

一人來拿一塊月餅吧！

Child: What flavors do we have?

寶寶：都有什么口味的呀？

Mom: We have red bean paste, five-kernel, jujube paste, and lotus seed paste.

媽媽：有豆沙的、五仁的、棗泥的和蓮蓉的。

One of them has a yolk –

其中一塊有蛋黃，

lets see whos the luckiest.

看誰最幸運。

Child: I cant read the words on it.

寶寶：我不認識上面的字。

Mom: Just break it open and youll know.

媽媽：掰開就知道了。

Yours is lotus seed paste

你的是蓮蓉的，

and it has a salted duck egg yolk.里面還有一個咸鴨蛋黃。

You are so lucky!

你太幸運了！

Child: Mmm... so delicious!

寶寶：嗯……真好吃！

What is mooncake made of?

月餅是用什么做的啊？

Mom: The main ingredients of mooncakes are:

媽媽：月餅的主要原料是：

flour, eggs, sugar, food additives, and various fillings.

面粉、雞蛋、糖、食品添加劑和各種餡。

Mooncakes contain nutrients like protein and Vitamin E.

月餅含有蛋白質、維生素E這些營養物質。

Child: Mommy, what kind of mooncake do you like best?

寶寶：媽媽，你最喜歡吃哪種月餅？

Mom: Haha, I like jujube paste,

媽媽：哈哈，我喜歡棗泥的，

but I also like to try some of the more creative mooncakes,

不過我還喜歡嘗試一些創新型月餅，

such as snow skin mooncakes, low-fat mooncakes, and sugar-free mooncakes.

比如冰皮月餅、低脂月餅和無糖月餅。

Snow skin mooncakes are cool to eat,

冰皮月餅吃起來涼涼的，

low-fat mooncakes are more suitable for those who want to lose weight,

低脂月餅更適合想減肥的朋友們，

and sugar-free mooncakes are specially designed for diabetics and the elderly.

無糖月餅是專門為糖尿病患者和老年人設計的。

Oh, we also have ice cream mooncakes,

哦，還有冰淇淋月餅，

which is just ice cream made into mooncake shapes.

就是把冰淇淋做成了月餅的形狀。

Child: Wow, I want to eat ice cream mooncakes!

寶寶：哇，我想吃冰淇淋月餅！

Mom: Yeah, we can try it someday.

媽媽：嗯，咱們哪天嘗嘗。

Child: Mom, what is Mid-Autumn Festival?

寶寶：媽媽，什么是中秋節啊？

Mom: Mid-Autumn Festival is a family holiday.

媽媽：中秋節是一個闔家團圓的節日。

We celebrate it on the 15th of the eighth month of the lunar calendar every year,

我們每年的陰歷的八月十五過它，

which is when we have a full moon.

那一天月亮是滿月。

Child: Why do we eat mooncakes during this festival?

寶寶：我們過這個節的時候為什么要吃月餅啊？

Mom: In ancient times, people would use the mooncake as an offering to the Moon God.

媽媽：古時候，人們用月餅來祭月神。

Nowadays people take it as festival food or as a gift and give it to relatives and friends,

現在人們把它當作節日食品或者禮品送給親朋好友，

because a mooncake symbolizes reunion.

因為月餅象征著團圓。

Child: And a mooncake looks like a full moon.

寶寶：而且月餅像滿月。

Mom: Exactly!

媽媽：沒錯！

Child: Happy Mid-Autumn Festival, Mommy and Daddy!

寶寶：中秋節快樂，爸爸媽媽！

Mom: Happy Mid-Autumn Festival!

媽媽：中秋節快樂！

Child: Mommy, Ive finished my lotus seed paste mooncake.

寶寶：媽媽，我吃完蓮蓉月餅了。

Can I get another one?

我能再吃一塊么？

Mom: Mooncakes are a bit sweet –

媽媽：月餅有點甜，

its not good to eat too much at night.

晚上吃太多不好。

Wipe your mouth,

擦擦嘴，

and lets go outside to enjoy the moon.

咱們去外面賞月吧。
