一、重讀音節的一般規律：

從前面對英語單詞讀音規則的研究中，我們知道英語單詞中元音字母在重讀音節中和非重讀音節中的發音規律是不同的，所以我們在記憶單詞的時候，只有弄清單詞的重讀音節和非重讀音節才能提高記憶效率。下面我們就一起來研究一下英語單詞重音的規律：

1. 雙音節詞,三音節詞，重音一般情況下多在第一個音節上：stronger hospital, monitor, nobody, library difficult，communist，family, letter, sorry

2.多音節詞的重讀音節在倒數第三個音節上：

economy，opportunity, difficult, communist, family, democracy.

3. 含有 a-, be-, de-, re-, res-, in-, im-, en-, em-, es-, ex-, con-, com-, dis-, mis-, pre-, per-, pro-, trans- 等前綴的詞，第二個音節是重音：

about, believe, address, decide, report, condemn, respect, compare, inform, discuss, impress, mistake, enforce, prepare, employ, permit, escape, produce, exclaim,translate

4. 在以un-(表示反意), re-(表示重復) pre-(前), post-(后) 前綴開頭的單詞中和含有后綴-teen和部分合成詞中通常有兩個重音:

unfair，unknown，unreal, rebuild retell pre-war, post-war fourteen，thirteen， fifteen, well-known, outside,

5. 有些雙音節詞的重音有區別詞性的作用－－重音在前是名詞，重音在后是動詞:

desert n.（沙漠），desert vt.（拋棄），permit n.（執照），permit vt.（呈獻）record n. 唱片，record vt. 記錄; insult n.侮辱，insult vt.侮辱; conduct n. 行為 指導，conduct vt. 行動 指導; present n. 贈品，禮物present vt.呈獻；贈送; content n.滿足，content使滿足increase n. increase vt.　excuse n. excuse vt.

6. 含有-ial，-ian/-ion/ient，-ic，-ics，-ience, -ify, -ious, -ity, ive, tal, eous后綴的詞，重音在這些音節的前一個音節上：
