Making Cookies
做曲奇
Mom: Look at these cookies in the cookbook!
媽媽:看看廚藝書上的這些曲奇!

Do you want to help me make some?
你想不想幫我一起做一些?
Child: Yes! They look yummy!
寶寶:想!它們看起來很美味!
Are they hard to make?
難不難做?
Mom: No, theyre pretty easy.
媽媽:不難,挺簡單的。
Now go wash your hands and get ready!
去洗手做準(zhǔn)備吧!
Making the dough 做面團
Mom: Lets make the dough first - here is the mixer.
媽媽:咱們先做面團,用這個攪拌機。

We need ? cup granulated sugar,
我們需要半杯砂糖、
一杯即西餐用235毫升標(biāo)準(zhǔn)量杯。
? cup brown sugar - make sure it is packed in the measuring cup,
半杯紅糖——要在量杯里壓緊、

? cup peanut butter,
半杯花生醬、

and ? cup softened butter.
四分之一杯軟化后的黃油。

Oh, let me soften some butter in another bowl.
哦,我在另一個碗里化一點黃油。
Here goes the butter.
黃油加好了。
And add in one egg.
再加1個雞蛋。

Child: It smells so good!
寶寶:聞起來好香呀!
Mom: Yeah! Now that we have butter, peanut butter, sugar, and egg all in the mixer,
媽媽:是??!我們已經(jīng)把黃油、花生醬、糖和雞蛋都放到攪拌機里了,
lets mix them until well blended.
咱們來把它們攪拌得非常均勻吧。

Child: I can turn it on!
寶寶:我來開電源!
? 1 minute passes 一分鐘過去Mom: Looking good!
媽媽:看著不錯!
Im going to add other ingredients
現(xiàn)在我要加其他配料了,
and then youll mix again.
一會兒你再繼續(xù)攪拌。
1? cups all-purpose flour,
一又四分之一杯通用面粉、

? teaspoon baking soda,
四分之三茶匙的小蘇打、
1茶匙為5毫升。

? teaspoon baking powder,
半茶匙的泡打粉,

and ? teaspoon salt.
還有四分之一茶匙的鹽。

Good to go.
好啦。
Will you mix all these ingredients while I preheat the oven?
我去預(yù)熱烤箱的時候,你來攪拌好不好?

Child: Okay!
寶寶:好的!
Mom: Ill also set aside some rolling sugar
媽媽:我還要準(zhǔn)備一會兒用的蘸糖
- its ? cup granulated sugar
——四分之一杯砂糖。

Child: Mom, it wont stick together.
寶寶:媽媽,和不到一塊去。
Mom: Dont worry if it looks a little crumbly
媽媽:不要擔(dān)心,如果它看起來有點碎碎的,
– this cookie dough is a little drier than other recipes.
這種餅干的面團比其他配方的要干一些。
If it is too dry to even shape,
如果它松散得都不能成型,

we can just add a tablespoon more of the softened butter

and mix it in.
混合進去就好了。
Child: I think its done.
寶寶:我覺得可以了。
It looks like the picture in the cookbook!

Mom: Good job!

Now set up a station
現(xiàn)在辟出一塊操作區(qū),
with a small bowl of granulated sugar, an ungreased cookie sheet, a fork, and the dough.
上面放一小碗砂糖、無油餅干烤盤、叉子和面團。

Lets shape the dough into one-inch balls.
咱們把面團揉成一英寸的小球。

Roll in the granulated sugar
在砂糖里滾一下,

and place 2 inches apart on the cookie sheet.
然后間隔2英寸放在餅干烤盤上。

Press and flatten with a fork twice,
用叉子按壓兩次,
creating a crosshatch on the top of the cookie.
餅干表面就有十字花紋了。

Child: This is fun!
寶寶:真好玩。
See the edges spread out and crack when I press it?
你看我一按,它的邊上就往外裂開了吧?
Mom: Yes, they are supposed to crack as you do this.
媽媽:沒錯,你這么做就應(yīng)該是裂開的。
All done.
都好啦。
Into the oven!
進烤箱了!

Child: Hooray!
寶寶:好耶!
烘焙提示
(1) Bake at 375 degrees for 10 - 12 minutes.
375華氏度(即190攝氏度),烘焙10-12分鐘。
(2) Cool before removing from pan.
冷卻后再從烤盤中取出。
(3) Dont skip cooling! Otherwise, they will not hold together when you pick them up.
不要跳過冷卻這步!否則熱的時候拿起來,它們會散掉的。
