“曬太陽”英文怎么說呢？你首先想到的是不是sunbathe？

Sunbathe的確是“曬太陽”，但更確切的翻譯是“曬日光浴”，也就是以getting tanned（曬出古銅色皮膚）為目的“曬太陽”。

1. Sunbathe 曬日光浴

This is a picture of a beach in the US. The children are building sand castles while the grown-ups are sunbathing.

這張照片是美國的一個沙灘。孩子們在堆沙堡，大人們在曬日光浴。

注意，sunbathing讀作[?s?nbeiei?]，不讀[?s?nb?ei?]，因為其原形sunbathe以e結尾，a發[ei]的音。

2. Bask in the Sun 沐浴在陽光下

I basked in the sun the whole afternoon.

我整個下午都沐浴在陽光下。

Bask in the sun雖然是“曬太陽”，但是它是一個比較文學的詞匯，表達一種溫暖、明亮、喜悅的感覺。

我們認為，“曬太陽”最普遍適用的、最貼切的翻譯是：

3. Get Some Sun, Soak up Some Sun 曬太陽

Lets get some sun.

咱們去曬曬太陽。

Its time to soak up some sun. Its healthy for you.

該去曬太陽了，對你身體好。

Soak up比get更具體，更體現出了那種吸收日照的感覺。

再為大家介紹一些“曬太陽”的相關表達：

4. In the Sun 在太陽下

Lets go sit in the sun.

咱們到太陽底下坐著去。

“在太陽下”翻譯成英文，你可能首先想到under the sun，但是under the sun相當于on the earth，表達一種“全天下”的意思，如：She tried everything under the sun to solve the problem. 她為了解決問題，什么都試過了。

5. Sunny Spot 太陽地兒

Lets go to the sunny spot over there. Its warmer.

咱們到那邊兒的太陽地兒去，那兒暖和。

6. Shine 陽光照射

The sun is shining through the window.

陽光透過窗戶照進來。

II. 太曬了

7. Bright 陽光明媚，光線強

The sun is very bright today.

今天的陽光很明媚。

太曬了，真晃眼。

太曬了，我都睜不開眼了。

最后要說一下，雖然中文里我們用“今天太陽真大”來表達陽光照射很強烈、很曬，但是其英文翻譯不是The sun is very big today，因為這句話指的是太陽形狀的大小。

9. Im Burning up 熱死了

I need to take my jacket off. Im burning up.

我得把外套脫了。熱死了。

Im burning up，是不是和中文里的“我快被烤焦了”很像??？但是，在中文里，只有“被太陽曬”的時候，我們才這么說。在英文中，室內室外都可以用Im burning up，有人甚至用Im roasting。

10. Its Boiling 熱死了

Could you please turn on the air conditioner? Its boiling.

你能把空調打開么？熱死了。

(1) 上面兩個“熱死了”的區別是：Im burning up指的是自己的感受，its boiling指的僅僅是溫度高。

(2) 和Im burning up一樣，its boiling無論在室外還是室內都適用。

11. Shade 陰涼

Lets go under the tree for some shade.

咱們到樹底下陰涼地兒去。

Lets go move into the shade.

咱們到陰涼底下去。

III. 怕曬

12. Avoid Sun Exposure 怕曬

I had you wear long sleeves so that you wont be exposed to the sun.

我怕你曬著，所以給你穿的長袖。

13. Avoid Getting Sunburnt 怕曬壞

I put some sunscreen on you so that you won’t get sunburnt.

我怕你被曬壞，所以給你涂了防曬霜。

14. “起床啦，太陽都照屁股了”英文怎么說？

我問外教：Do you have a saying like "Get up. The sun is shining on your bottom"?

外教說：No, but we have "Get up. Youre wasting daylight.（起床啦，你在浪費日光。）
