Building with Blocks

搭積木

Mom: Lets build with blocks this afternoon.

媽媽：今天下午咱們搭積木吧。

Why dont you go ahead and dump them out on the living room rug?

你去把它們倒在客廳的地毯上吧。

Child: Okay! Can we build something new this time?

寶寶：好的！這次我們能搭一些新東西嗎？

Mom: Sure. Ill show you how to build a few things.

媽媽：當然。我來教你搭一些東西。

Teapot 茶壺

Child: Whats first?

寶寶：先搭什么？

Mom: Hm, lets try a teapot first.

媽媽：嗯，咱們先試試搭個茶壺。

Ill call out what we need and you pick them out.

我來說咱們需要什么，你把它們挑出來。

A large triangle, a small triangle, two squares, two semi-circles, a rectangle, and a longer and wider rectangle.

一個大三角、一個小三角、兩個正方形、兩個半圓、一個長方形和一個更長更寬的長方形。

Child: I have them all.

寶寶：我找齊了。

Mom: Alright, lets start at the base, the long, flat rectangle.

媽媽：好的，我們從底座長長扁扁的長方形開始。

Then, the smaller rectangle.

然后是小一些的長方形。

Child: The squares go next!

寶寶：接下來是正方形！

Mom: Yes, and then we top it with the large triangle pointing up.

媽媽：是的，然后我們把大三角放在上面，尖朝上。

Child: What about the handle?

寶寶：茶壺把兒怎么辦？

Mom: Good question!

媽媽：好問題！

We put the semi-circles together so that they look like Pac-man

我們把半圓放在一起，讓它們看起來像吃豆人，

and put the opening of his mouth on the body of the teapot.

Last, we put the little triangle on the side to make the spout.

最后，我們把小三角放在旁邊做壺嘴。

Child: So we can "tip me over and pour me out!" just like the song!

Mom: Exactly!

Butterfly 蝴蝶

Mom: Lets do the butterfly next.

媽媽：接下來我們搭蝴蝶。

We will need two semi-circles, two cylinders, 10 squares, and two small triangles.

我們需要兩個半圓、兩個圓柱、10個正方形和兩個小三角。

Got them?

找到了嗎？

Child: Yes.

寶寶：嗯。

Mom: Good! Lets start with the butterflys body.

媽媽：好的！咱們從蝴蝶的軀干開始。

We will lay the two cylinders on top of one another,

我們把兩個圓柱摞起來，

so they make one very tall cylinder.

變成一個高圓柱。

Child: Do the semi-circles go on the top?

寶寶：半圓是放在最上面嗎？

Mom: Yes, they make the antennas.

媽媽：是的，用它們當觸角。

We use all those squares for his wings.

我們用這些正方形做他的翅膀。

Make two big squares using 4 small squares each.

用4個小正方形做兩個大正方形。

Then, place them beside the top cylinder, one on each side.

然后，把它們放在上面的圓柱旁邊，一邊放一個。

Child: What about the bottom wings?

寶寶：下面的翅膀呢？

Mom: What do you think we should do?

Child: How about one square on each side of the bottom cylinder?

Mom: Yup! And then we will add a small triangle right above the bottom squares with the bases of the triangles touching the cylinders.

媽媽：嗯！然后，我們在下面的正方形上放一個小三角，三角的底部挨著圓柱。

Child: Ta-da！

寶寶：塔噠！

Truck 卡車

Child: Can we do one more, Mommy?

寶寶：我們能再搭一個嗎，媽媽？

Mom: Sure. How about a truck for the last thing we build today?

媽媽：當然。咱們今天最后一個搭卡車怎么樣？

We will need 4 cylinders, a small triangle, 2 long, flat rectangles, and a cube.

我們需要4個圓柱、一個小三角、兩個長的扁長方形和一個方塊。

Child: I have them all.

寶寶：我都找到了。

Mom: Awesome. First, lets start with the wheels.

媽媽：很好。首先，咱們從輪子開始。

Line up the four cylinders all beside each other.

把四個圓柱一個挨一個排成一排。

Then, put the two rectangles longways, with their short ends touching, across the cylinders.

然后，把兩個長方形豎著放，短邊相接，擺在圓柱上。

Nice work!

Child: The triangle, and the cube will be the truck cab!

Mom: Great! Now you can build a teapot, truck, and butterfly with your blocks.

媽媽：很好！現在你會用積木搭茶壺、卡車和蝴蝶了。
